Alison Mowbray

Dr. Alison Mowbray is an Olympic medalist, holds a PhD in Genetic Engineering, teacher,  Nutritionist Author, Inspirational Speaker and leadership development consultant.

Utilizing her background in sports and science, she conducts engaging presentations and workshops on nutrition and exercise. Her aim is to assist individuals in overcoming both psychological and physiological obstacles that hinder their performance. She firmly believes that realizing dreams and goals requires commitment, self-belief, and the acquisition of learnable skills and processes.

Alison spent seven years on the British rowing team, competing in five World Championships and two Olympic Games. Despite lacking experience and facing academic pursuits, she earned a PhD in Genetic Engineering from Cambridge at 26.
Joining the British rowing team in London, she qualified for the Sydney Olympics at 29, finishing 10th. Determined, she aimed for Athens, balancing teaching and training. In 2004, she won Olympic Silver, now inspiring others to achieve their dreams.

Since retiring from international rowing, Alison has embraced various adventurous pursuits, including diving, sailing, windsurfing, skiing, and open water swimming. She’s completed marathons, cycled Lands End to John O’Groats, and tackled numerous mountains worldwide. She’s also been featured in Channel 4’s ‘Dangerous Jobs For Girls,’ taking on challenging roles traditionally dominated by men.

She is passionate about the need for exercise and good nutrition. As a rower she was injury free all her career and has remained so despite all her new activities. Her scientific background and practical experience have helped her make sense of the sometimes confusing wealth of health advice that surrounds us.

Individual-Speakers-Quote

Today I have been in a meeting where we had a motivational speaker, Alison Mowbray. I have seen many motivational speakers in my career (especially with the larger life companies) and I must admit she is one of, if not the best I have ever seen. She was funny and lively with a great story to tell which was around how she became a success after what appeared to be one disappointment after another.

Alison has spoken at many of our executive conferences and senior team building events. Each time she has exceeded our expectations and energized the senior teams of key clients including Colt Telecom, Daler-Rowley and EDS. What they likAdd Newed most was her attitude, sense of humour, personal touch when addressing a large audience and the perception that she is very approachable despite her prestigious sporting achievements and busy speaking life.
