Romain Muhammad is an award-winning keynote speaker, author and people, performance and culture strategist whose work explores the intersection of psychology, identity and culture.

His talks help individuals and organisations understand why we think the way we think, and how we can change it.

Raised in a working-class family with Windrush heritage, Romainโ€™s early experiences shaped a lifelong curiosity about identity, belonging and the forces that shape human behaviour. These questions now sit at the heart of his work, where he explores how fear, culture and conditioning influence confidence, Mindset, leadership and the way people show up in their careers and society.

With more than 15 years of experience across leadership development, organisational culture and behavioural insight, Romain has delivered hundreds of keynotes, panels and workshops for organisations around the world including NASA, Yale University, Rabobank, SmartestEnergy and Collinson.

As the author of What Are You So Afraid Of?, Romain challenges audiences to recognise the hidden role fear plays in decision-making, communication and leadership. His work helps people identify the psychological patterns that keep capable individuals playing smaller than necessary, and equips them with practical tools to rebuild self-trust, courage and clarity.

Widely respected for his sharp social commentary, Romain is also known for exploring the deeper social and cultural forces shaping modern life. Through his writing, research and growing online platforms, he regularly speaks on topics including workplace culture, identity and belonging, race, mental health, imposter syndrome, psychological safety and leadership transformation.

Romain is the founder of RoomtoLead, a platform for coaching, learning and leadership development. Previously he founded and exited a global recruitment agency and EDI consultancy called Diversify World, a global people and culture consultancy that partnered with more than 100 organisations across technology, finance, government and education.

Alongside his professional work, Romain is an Aziz Foundation Scholar conducting postgraduate research at Birkbeck, University of London and a Research Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. His research explores race, identity and the historical systems that continue to shape society today.

Blending storytelling, behavioural insight and cultural analysis, Romainโ€™s keynotes challenge audiences to think differently about fear, behaviour and culture. His sessions explore how identity, conditioning and social systems shape confidence, communication and leadership.

Organisations invite Romain to help their people understand why they think and behave the way they do, and to give them the clarity, confidence and practical tools to lead, communicate and perform more effectively.

His talks leave audiences with a deeper understanding of themselves, the environments they work in, and the courage to act with greater authenticity and self-trust.

Many organisations focus heavily on strategy and performance but overlook one of the biggest barriers to success.

Confidence.

Talented people often hold back their ideas, hesitate to challenge decisions or question their own abilities. Over time this limits both individual potential and organisational performance.
