Marc Woods is one of Great Britain’s most accomplished Paralympians, having competed in an extraordinary five Paralympic Games and winning 12 medals, including four golds. Yet it is what happened outside the pool that makes his story so powerful and relevant for today’s organisations.

At the age of 17, Marc was diagnosed with cancer, resulting in the amputation of his left leg. Refusing to let adversity define him, he returned to swimming during treatment and, just 18 months after completing chemotherapy, was selected to represent Great Britain. Over a remarkable 17 year international career, he competed at five Paralympic Games, as well as World and European Championships, winning a further 21 major championship medals.

Today, Marc draws on a unique combination of experience gained through 17 years as an international athlete and more than 20 years working with senior executives and leadership teams. Whether inspiring audiences from the stage, enabling individuals to excel through coaching, or sharing insights as an author, Marc brings practical lessons that resonate long after an event has finished.

A highly sought after keynote speaker, Marc has presented to organisations in 32 countries, working closely with clients to ensure every presentation reflects the challenges and opportunities facing their business. His distinctive and engaging style combines honesty, humour and insight, creating an experience that is both moving and motivating.

Through his presentations, Marc explores themes including resilience, coping with the unexpected, adapting to change, agreeing what success looks like, teamwork and sustaining high performance. Drawing on his own experiences of overcoming adversity and competing at the highest level, he demonstrates how individuals and organisations can thrive when faced with uncertainty and change.

Marc’s impact often extends far beyond his keynote. Audiences regularly refer back to his messages throughout conferences and events, while fellow speakers frequently draw on elements of his story to reinforce their own presentations, increasing the lasting value for delegates.

Alongside keynote speaking, Marc is an experienced host, facilitator and workshop leader. He has worked with organisations including NatWest, Sky, Deloitte, Barclays and the BBC, helping teams and leaders develop the mindset and behaviours needed to perform at their best.

Away from the sporting arena, Marc continues to challenge himself through adventurous expeditions, including climbing Cotopaxi and trekking across Peru and Ecuador. He is also the author of Personal Best, in which he shares the principles and lessons that have shaped his approach to life, leadership and success.

Marc’s story is a compelling reminder that while we cannot always control what happens to us, we can choose how we respond. His message leaves audiences inspired, energised and equipped with practical strategies to overcome challenges and achieve their own personal best.
