Throughout her journey from her thirties into her early forties, Louise McMilan found herself grappling with deep depression, which profoundly impacted both her career in HR and her personal life.

Now, she openly shares the effects of this struggle and the practical tools she employs daily to nurture her wellbeing, tools that can benefit anyone facing life’s challenges. Louise’s engaging talks are not only impactful and thought-provoking but also strike a chord with many who hear them.

Louise’s mission is to break the silence surrounding mental illness, advocating for open discussions in schools, workplaces, and families alike. With over two decades of successful HR experience across diverse organizations such as Ofsted, First Great Western, Clarks, and Bristol Airport, Louise brings a wealth of expertise to the table. Armed with her HR CIPD qualifications, personal performance coaching certification, and DISC accreditation, she now collaborates with organizations to bolster their wellbeing strategies.

Drawing from her own journey and professional background, Louise offers coaching to middle managers and emerging talent, along with facilitating various workshops—all underpinned by a commitment to mental health support. Despite grappling with self-loathing and low self-esteem, Louise’s perspective shifted dramatically after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017 and undergoing emergency surgery for appendicitis during her initial chemotherapy. These experiences ignited her sense of self-worth and fueled her passion for assisting others on their mental health journeys.

Louise shared her story which was truly inspirational and really resonated with our employees and myself which was thought provoking, motivational and empowering.
