Harnessing the resilience learned throughout his rehabilitation journey, this devoted husband and father of two is working to qualify for the 200m Sprint Kayak event at the 2024 Paris and 2028 Paralympics.

Jon grew up amongst the Royal Marines and started Royal Marines Young Officer Training in 2002 aged 19. Jon graduated and completed several tours as a Troop (30 men) Commander and Company (100) Second-in-Command before specialising as a Mountain Leader. His final military command was of 40 Commando’s Reconnaissance Troop. It was whilst on patrol in Afghanistan with his Troop that he stepped on a Pressure Plate Improvised Explosive Device and lost three limbs.

After this colossal life-changing event, Jon decided he was not going to roll over and give up but would instead live his life to the full. His road to recovery, has seen him take on incredible challenges and prove that a strong will and sharp mind can overcome almost anything.

April 2012, Jon and his colleague Colour Sergeant Lee Waters Royal Marines completed the Devizes to Westminster Kayak Race, the world’s longest (125 mile) non-stop canoeing challenge, in just over 28 hours and were awarded the Gluckstein Trophy.

Jon’s specialty is on Leadership and for his book that is in progress, Who Leaders Lead, Jon interviewed high-level leaders from across the Globe and from different disciplines, including Kofi Annan, Steve Waugh the former Australian cricket captain and General Philip Breedlove USAF.
