Transitioning to Formula 1 in 2001, Guenther was appointed Team Principal and later advanced to Managing Director, becoming a leading authority in the industry and a coveted figure among major Formula One teams.

When entrepreneur Gene Haas considered creating a Formula One team, he enlisted Guenther to lead the effort. Guenther’s expertise in building successful race and rally teams from scratch made him the ideal candidate for the task.
