Dr Fene Osakwe is a multiple award-winning Technology professional, International Conference speaker and Forbes published author.
Fene’s core competence is in Cyber security, Technology Governance, Risk Management, and Digital transformation. Fene has consulted for several Financial Institutions, Telecoms and FinTech companies, state governments and some Universities in these areas, holding over 10 internationally recognized professional cyber security certifications.
He started his cyber security career with Deloitte over a decade ago and has had a very fast career progression into executive management across three-multibillion-dollar multinational companies in less than 10 years. He has worked in, and spoken at international conferences in over 20 countries across four continents and was recognized by Hiedens International Magazine USA as Africa’s most sought-after cybersecurity advisor in 2021. In one of his previous roles as Director of IT Security at IHS, he helped the company create their cyber security function from scratch and mature it in 18 months to the level that enabled the company list on the New York stock exchange in 2021.
Dr Fene Osakwe is also a career mentor to universities in 3 continents. He mentors top 10 graduating students of the Ladoke Akintola University, Career mentor at the University of Westminster London, and also mentors graduate students in MA and Ph.D. programs from the Toronto Metropolitan University. In September 2022 he was awarded the Cybersecurity Youth Mentor of the year – 2022 in the UAE.
In 2021, Dr Fene was awarded an honorary Doctor of Business Administration (Leadership and innovation) from the Swiss School of Business Geneva. Other notable awards include – Top 100 Inspiring global personalities 2022, Cybersecurity Excellence award (Dubai), 10 most influential Cyber security leaders under 40 (CIOLOOK US), NY Journal top 10 business coaches to watch out for in 2023, Global book award 2023 for his book – climbing the corporate ladder (USA), Inspirational leadership award (Internet 2.0) Dubai.
His book, Climbing the Corporate Ladder with Speed was number one release on Amazon in Strategic management and Business mentoring for 2 weeks, in January 2023 and has sold over 9,000 copies in 40 countries.
Dr Fene is also a Board member of various companies including listen2Act, and Rapidcare and is a member of the prestigious Forbes Council. He founded Fene Osakwe Foundation out of a deep desire to provide financial help to single mothers who can’t afford schooling for their children in Africa. The Foundation presently pays the school fees of 50 children in Africa. At Christmas time every year, the Foundation gives out financial support of up to 5,000 USD to families who cannot afford a Christmas meal in Nigeria. The initiative is called Christmas with a smile and has so far supported 100 Nigerian families.
