Aaron Phipps at the age of 15, had both legs and most of his fingers amputated due to meningitis-related blood poisoning.

Aaron Phipps’ sporting journey began with a 10km fundraising wheelchair race for the Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF). Starting in wheelchair racing, Aaron competed in two London Marathons, placing fourth in 2009 with a sub-two-hour finish. He later joined the GB Wheelchair Rugby squad, scoring over half of his team’s points at the 2012 London Paralympics.

In 2016, Aaron climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for MRF and Shaw Trust. Using a specially adapted off-road wheelchair, he refused assistance when it failed on the terrain, reaching the summit after four days of trekking on his hands and knees. He became the first amputee to summit Kilimanjaro unassisted, a feat covered in a Channel 5 documentary.

Aaron returned to Wheelchair Rugby in 2017, leading his team from 5th in the world to the best, during a global pandemic. This achievement marked the first time a European team won a medal in wheelchair rugby and secured Paralympics GB’s first team sport gold medal.

He has been named among the top 100 most influential people in the UK with a disability.

Aaron will share how he overcame seemingly impossible odds to become the best in the world at what he does. His story will leave you feeling more productive, focused, and motivated. Real life, real human spirit—just real.
