Bennett Arron was in serious debt. He owed thousands to phone companies, banks and department stores.
Only it wasnโt him. Bennett had become the first major victim of Identity Theft in the UK. The crime left him penniless and homeless.
Years later, Bennett was asked to write, direct and present a Channel 4 Documentary on the subject. The programme, โHow To Steal An Identityโ was chosen as โPick of the Weekโ in all the major Press and described as โFascinating and Disturbingโ. In the programme Bennett proved the ease of the crime by first stealing the identities of the general public and then stealing identity of the British Home Secretary. As a result of the programme, the UK Driving Licence Application Form had to be reprinted – and Bennett was shortlisted for a BAFTA.
Bennett now speaks at conferences, expos and corporate events around the world on the subjects of identity theft, fraud and cyber security. In addition to this Bennett also speaks to management and staff at various companies to warn them, in a humorous and memorable way, about the dangers of phishing, vishing smishing etc. He also writes and presents in-house videos on the subject which have proven to be an incredibly successful way of putting the message across without preaching or scaring.
Bennett has appeared as a Fraud Expert on Sky, Channel 4, ITV and the BBC and he recently received an โUnsung Hero Awardโ for his work in Fraud and Cyber Security. He also wrote the critically acclaimed book Heard The One About Identity Theft?
In addition to the subjects of Fraud, Cyber Security and Identity Theft, Bennett also presents a fascinating, moving, funny and insightful talk on his experiences of depression and mental health.
