Jon White is a former Royal Marines officer, elite para athlete and inspirational speaker whose extraordinary story of courage, resilience and determination continues to motivate audiences around the world.
Raised in a proud military family, Jon was inspired from a young age by his father, a Royal Marines veteran of 25 years. Determined to follow in his footsteps, Jon joined Royal Marines Young Officer Training in 2002 at just 19 years old, beginning what would become a distinguished military career.
Throughout his service, Jon held several leadership positions including Troop Commander and Company Second in Command. He also earned the highly respected Mountain Leader qualification, recognised as one of the toughest specialisations in the military. His final command role saw him leading the 40 Commando Reconnaissance Troop.
In June 2010, while on patrol in Afghanistan, Jon’s life changed forever when he stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device. The explosion resulted in the loss of three limbs and marked the beginning of an entirely new challenge.
Faced with unimaginable adversity, Jon approached his recovery with the same determination and mental strength that had defined his military career. Refusing to let his injuries define him, he channelled his focus into para sport and quickly established himself as a leading figure in Marathon Canoeing and Ocean Racing Canoeing, representing Great Britain on the international stage.
One of his most remarkable achievements came in 2012 when he completed the gruelling Devizes to Westminster Kayak Race alongside Colour Sergeant Lee Waters Royal Marines. Completing the race in just over 28 hours, the pair earned the prestigious Gluckstein Trophy in an extraordinary display of endurance, teamwork and resilience.
Today, Jon is not only an accomplished athlete but also a passionate and engaging speaker.
