Women in business

Victoria Humphries is a polar adventurer, three times Guinness World Record holder, mountain climber, marathon runner, author, Bath based businesswoman and a โ€˜normalโ€™ person.

She prides herself on being just your average woman who happens to believe that Anything is Possible if you put your mind to it.ย  Life is full of challenges, and we always have a choice โ€“ step forward or run away, be overcome by the enormity of it or be brave and step into it.ย  Whatโ€™s the worst that can happen?ย  Just give it a go!

In 1997 Victoria, along with her mother Sue, became part of the first all-female expedition to the North Pole.ย  Along the way they experienced temperatures of -40oC, constantly shifting ice and at one point they both fell into the Arctic Ocean finding themselves in a life or death situation.ย  The expedition tested their resilience, their ability to cope with a constantly changing environment and most of all, their courage.

Victoria is unusual in that she combines stories from her various adventures and challenges with her extensive commercial experience to create talks and workshops that are both inspirational and relatable to the challenges of the modern day workplace.ย  She is known for avoiding corporate jargon and simply using her real life experiences to inspire and motivate.ย  She focuses on helping your workforce to recognise that they live in a โ€˜non-linearโ€™ world; one where there will be constant change, they will fall over, they will need to change direction and there will be many times where they donโ€™t know all the answers.

Recently she has been Managing Director of an EdTech business.ย  Victoria is Chair of Governors of a school in Gibraltar and on the Board of Trustees of a UK based group of schools. ย She now works with businesses around the world, across a range of sectors, giving keynote speeches and running cultural change & resilience workshops.

โ€˜The acquisition of real-world wisdom is attained through lived experiences in the real world… it is not necessarily found in the pages of books.โ€™

In todayโ€™s fast moving world, organisations and individuals often face uncertainty, shifting priorities and unpredictable challenges. Victoria uses her experiences, from polar expeditions to leading an EdTech company, to relate to a non-linear world where people might have to change direction, adapt quickly and make difficult decisions without always knowing the outcome. Her keynote encourages flexibility, adaptability and a mindset that sees change not as a threat but as an opportunity for innovation, growth and reinvention.

Often described as a โ€œnormal personโ€ who has achieved extraordinary things, Victoriaโ€™s story resonates because it shows what can be possible when you believe in yourself and take the first step. Her talks cut through corporate jargon, instead relying on authenticity, humour and real stories, to motivate audiences to challenge self-doubt, break down goals into manageable steps and move forward even when the path is unclear. Her message encourages people to trust in their capabilities and to say โ€œyesโ€ to opportunities that push them beyond their comfort zone.

Drawing on her experience as part of the first all-female expedition to the North Pole, surviving โˆ’40โ€ฏยฐC, shifting ice and even a fall into the Arctic Ocean, Victoria shares powerful stories of endurance and courage. She combines these extraordinary adventures with decades of commercial and educational experience to show audiences how to build resilience in everyday life. Her talks illustrate that resilience is not just about being strong but about learning to pick yourself up after setbacks, adapting to changing conditions and staying focused on long-term goals even when the path is not straight. Victoria empowers audiences to view challenges not as obstacles but as opportunities for growth, self-discovery and personal transformation.

Having not only led daring expeditions but also built a successful career in education and business, Victoria offers a powerful perspective on navigating traditionally male-dominated fields. She speaks from first-hand experience about overcoming societal and psychological barriers, and her journey encourages women to trust their ambitions, embrace challenge and claim their space in business and leadership. Her talks often resonate with female audiences, helping them draw strength from vulnerability, resilience and the courage to step beyond expectations.

What people say

I was stunned and impressed with your fortitude, guts and belief – I know we can all learn from that and certainly put some of our day to day issues firmly into a new perspective. The crowd adored you and I think they felt very inspired to try something almost equally ambitious themselves one day!

British Telecom – Executive Women’s Networking Group

Victoria delivered an inspiring story and workshop about navigating change within our business and teams. While I’ve experienced growth in my career by stepping outside my comfort zone and adapting to change, this event taught me the importance of facing and managing change collectively with my colleagues. I left the workshop with valuable life lessons that I’ll be incorporating moving forward.
