Baroness Tina Stowell is a former Leader of the House of Lords and Cabinet Minister whose distinguished career has encompassed senior roles in Downing Street, Washington, the BBC and Parliament.
She is renowned for โgetting things doneโ and surpassing expectations when faced with โimpossibleโ challenges: from leading equal marriage legislation through the House of Lords, to preventing foreign governments from owning or controlling British news organisations, and to turning around a decline in public trust of the charity sector when she was Chair of the Charity Commission.
Yet she grew up in a working-class family living in a small industrial town, and left school at sixteen determined to make her way as a secretary.
The real story about Tina isnโt where she began, but why she succeeded and how far itโs taken her. Sheโs been underestimated and forced to prove herself more often than she can remember. But her record of achievement is remarkable and her method consistent: sheโs fixed tough problems by understanding the people involved, respecting different perspectives, and finding common ground.
She has spent decades bringing unlikely people together to achieve unexpected results in times of great upheaval โ receiving numerous awards for her work. Most recently, from three years chairing the influential Communications & Digital Select Committee of the House of Lords, that has involved understanding the effect of technological developments such as Artificial Intelligence on society and the political arena, and how media and other industries must adapt in the face of revolutionary change.
At a time of unprecedented political and technological disruption, low trust and high demands, she now shares her experiences as a leader who has spent decades bridging divides to make change happen, helping others do the same.
Tina speaks with authority, delivering straight-talking insights, real stories, and practical lessons leaders can use to understand the roots of distrust, make a persuasive case for change, and unite people to deliver results. Audiences leave inspired and equipped with the confidence and tools to overcome challenges they once believed were beyond reach.
Leadership in an Age of Distrust and Disruption
Why has trust broken downโand what genuinely earns it back? Tina helps leaders understand scepticism, disengagement, and resistance, and shows how to build confidence through credibility, consistency, and understanding.
How to Bring People With YouโEven When the Odds Are Against You
Change fails when people donโt come with it. Drawing on real-world experience and research with Yonder Consulting, Tina shows how leaders build credibility, overcome resistance, and mobilise people to deliver results.
Trust, Technology, and Customers in an Age of Forced Digital Change
As AI and automation become unavoidable, many customers experience digital change as something done to them. Tina shows leaders how enforced technology affects trustโand how to introduce AI in ways that preserve credibility, empathy, and enhance long-term customer relationships
