Lis Cashin’s life was devastated when, at just 13 years old, she accidentally killed a friend in a school sports day event.
She then lived with undiagnosed PTSD and punished herself for many years. Age 30 she was in a physically and emotionally abusive relationship, taking drugs and partying every weekend and her life was spiraling out of control.
Until a breakthrough moment which changed the course of her life forever.
Lis is now passionate about sharing her journey to mental wellbeing, including insights she has gained and practices she has learned that can give support and a roadmap to others who want to transform their own mental wellbeing and live happier and more fulfilled lives.
Lis helps to unlock potential and transform mental wellbeing. She does this through speaking, consultancy, training programmes and through herself-help memoir THIS IS ME.
She works with individuals, organisations and schools/youth organisations.
This talk focuses on evolving how we approach mental health in the workplace. Moving beyond traditional approaches, Lis introduces new frameworks that help organisations support mental wellbeing proactively, reduce stigma, and enhance overall employee resilience.
Building on the foundation of traditional resilience, this talk explores how organisations can build greater psychological resilience through a strengths-based and psychologically safe approach, creating teams and leaders who not only survive adversity but thrive in it.
In this impactful and personal talk, I focus on the critical intersection of leadership, mental wellbeing, and resilience. Drawing from my own journey of overcoming trauma and the challenges of leading while struggling with mental health, I explore how leaders can break the stigma surrounding mental health, create supportive environments, and build resilience within themselves and their teams.
This talk dives into how Positive Psychology can transform leadership practices. By focusing on strengths, creating psychological safety, and creating an environment of trust and wellbeing, leaders can inspire their teams to achieve their full potential.
I was really enlightened at your talk last night. I’m a very black and white person, and have to work hard to see the grey, and you personified why it’s really important to look for the grey, or the things that are usually unsaid. You were a glowing testimony that everyone can make a choice, and when they do, they’re a powerful force to be reckoned with
Lis came into Just Eat on World Mental Health Day with a focus on breaking down the barriers around talking about mental health. The sessions were awesome and extremely well received in the business. She’s down to earth and a really great speaker – we’d have her back in a heartbeat.
