Geffrye Parsons (he/him) is the Founder and CEO (‘Chief Empathy Officer’) of The Inclusion Imperative.

The Inclusion Imperative, a best-practice consultancy through which he uses his extensive experience, skills and knowledge to help commercial organisations, and their leaders, harness the power of inclusion as a key strategy for organisational learning and superior business outcomes.

A thought leader and driver of positive change in the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging space (DEIB), Geff has expertise (particularly but not solely) in LGBTQ+ inclusion, and its intersectionality with other marginalised characteristics. He focuses on challenging received wisdoms and practices to foster cultural reinvention, and encourages business learning by promoting the value of authenticity, empathy and psychological safety in the workplace.

Geffrye Parsons is highly experienced at public speaking in multiple formats – as a keynote speaker, interviewee, panellist and moderator. He has spoken extensively about DEIB and LGBTQ+ inclusion, and their intersections with topics ranging from psychological safety, authentic leadership, belonging, allyship and imposter syndrome, to more challenging intersections such as hate speech, conversion therapy, disability, poverty, infertility and bullying. He also co-hosts a fortnightly podcast, ‘Pride Talks’, on the theme of LGBTQ+ inclusion every two weeks on LinkedIn Live with ExecuPride.

In addition to public speaking, Geff offers bespoke diagnostic and advisory initiatives, training sessions, coaching, mentoring and awareness campaigns. To this, he brings the benefit of a practical, commercial perspective – he worked successfully for 35 years in senior front office roles for leading international financial and professional services organisations, based in the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and the Netherlands, prior to launching The Inclusion Imperative in 2022.

As a Managing Director and long-standing chair of the LGBTQ+ employee resource group at his former employer, Macquarie Group, Geff took them from outside the top 300 to #1 the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index 2022, making Macquarie officially the UK’s most LGBTQ+ friendly workplace by the time he left. Under Geff’s leadership and direction, Macquarie also won the inaugural Business Equality Award at the PinkNews Awards in 2018, in recognition of its exemplary commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion, and was shortlisted as a Top Ten Inclusive Employer by the British LGBT Awards in 2022.

Individually, Geffrye Parsons has been honoured with the following accolades:

  • Winning the award of ‘LGBT+ Inspirational Leader’ at the British LGBT Awards in the 2019.
  • Featuring in the Pride Power List 2022, the list of the 100 most influential LGBTQ+ people in the UK, published by The Guardian.
  • Twice being shortlisted for the ‘Corporate/Business Role Model’ award at the PinkNews Awards (2018 and 2022).
  • Three times (2018, 2019 and 2021) being ranked in the annual list of the ‘Top 100 LGBTQ+ Executives’ globally (sponsored by the Financial Times/Yahoo Finance).

Driven by his passion for promoting inclusion, Geff is also a Trustee of three UK-based LGBTQ+ charities/associations (GiveOut, Diversity Role Models, and Pride in Tennis), and was previously a Trustee of the London Village Network, a charity helping underprivileged young people reach their full potential. In addiiton, he has acted as a judge for both the British LGBT Awards (for which he is currently also a member of the steering committee) and the PinkNews Awards.
