However Gail wasn’t always able to adventure, being told in her teens she’d likely lose the ability to walk by the age of 40. She was not deterred, and although she had to overcome 15+ years of chronic illness she never gave up hope, and recovered to take her first steps towards a new and fulfilled life.

After searching the world for a diagnosis, Gail was finally able to rehab her body, and in 2019 she took the body she nearly lost to hike the Appalachian Trail – almost 2,200 miles of wilderness, mountains and remote terrain. She even completed the last 850 miles with two broken bones in her foot! Gail’s journey and the lessons she learnt along the way fuelled her best-selling memoir Unlost – a story of hope through adversity. Gail continues to adventure, both in her beloved Cornwall and across the world. She believes that we all hold the tools to live a truly remarkable life, and that with a little positivity, a dash of bravery and the right encouragement, truly anything is possible..

Gail’s uplifting and inspirational talks revolve around making friends with challenge and finding ways to thrive in difficult and uncertain times. Gail was also was recently diagnosed neurodiverse with ADHD, which has allowed her to shed a new light on her adventures and life experiences, helping her to meaningfully motivate and encourage those who feel ‘different’, and showing that the things we often consider ‘broken’ are actually superpowers.

Hope through adversity

We will all experience dark times in our lives. Sometimes it feels like there is no end in sight. Answers lie in learning how to work with our difficulties rather than against them, so that we may thrive in the most challenging of situations. In all life's arenas I've learned the hard way that the roadblocks we face are moveable, we must just harness our hope and learn how to lift them from the path.

2
Resilience and courage under pressure

I share the lessons I have learnt from adventuring in some of the most challenging environments on earth. My thriving against the odds shows that grit and tenacity are present in all of us - sometimes we just need a little encouragement to uncover the strength we have buried within.

3
Why our broken bits are actually our superpowers

As an adult with recently diagnosed ADHD, and with years of experience working with neurodiverse students, I know that all of us have flaws we are hiding that are actually our strengths. It's often just our shame or fear that keeps us from recognising them as such. This talk inspires and encourages audiences to take their own flaws out into the light and see them as the fuel for flourishment that they are. If we can reframe that which seems ‘different’ or ‘broken’ in our brains, then we are able to thrive, shine and live with a unique confidence.

4
How to live a wild life

What does a Wild Life look like to you? Perhaps you have long suppressed your dreams of freedom, escape and adventure. Maybe you believe that you ‘don’t deserve it’ or ‘couldn’t possibly make it happen’. Together we will explore how we can bring more joy and fulfilment into our daily lives by choosing a mindset and daily activities that enable us to grow and flourish towards wild freedom, even when it feels like our circumstances are conspiring against us.

5
Why adventure is for everyone

It took me a long time to overcome the belief that I didn’t ‘look’ like an adventurer. We are so conditioned by the stereotypes around us that when we don’t obviously conform we have a tendency to check out and believe ‘that’s not for me’. I am here to remind you that adventure is for everyone, and that whatever your age, background and personal challenges, there is a perfect adventure out there just for you.

6
Self belief & having the confidence to dream big

When I was in the deepest hole of chronic physical pain and mental struggle, I promised myself that if I ever recovered, then I would use my body to do wild and inspiring things even though I couldn’t imagine them at the time. Little by little I put myself back together and kept that promise. In this talk, I show how mindset and resilience are the keys to achieving extraordinary things, even against all odds.

7
Navigating the changing world and uncertain futures

We are living in unprecedented times and the ground is moving beneath our feet, yet we are required to be proactive, adept and capable. I’ve adventured multiple thousands of miles through wilderness environments, learning life lessons that will resonate with diverse audiences, renewing their passion for life and showing them how to thrive in uncertainty.
