Danny Crates is one of the UK’s most decorated Paralympians.
A gold medal winning Paralympian, World & European champion, world record holder, London 2012 ambassador in which he played a pivotal role in bringing the games to the UK and was Great Britain’s flag bearer at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic opening ceremony.
Since retiring from international athletics Danny has gained international acclaim as a renowned business speaker and is the recipient of numerous speaking accolades, he was recognised as one of the top 5 motivational speakers worldwide. Danny brings over 25yrs experience delivering keynotes around the globe and his presentations are assured to leave audiences motivated, inspired, and equipped for success.
After losing his right arm in a horrific accident at just 21 years old, Danny was determined to overcome that huge hurdle in his life, focus on the future and regain his positive mental attitude. Danny’s resilience, drive and determination saw him back on the rugby field within 6 months and shortly after into Paralympic sport, quickly dominating – famously winning gold in the men’s 800 metres at the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games, a year which also saw him set a new world record. It was the highlight of a glittering international career that saw Danny win every major title in the sport, including the World Championships, European Championships and Paralympic World Cup. 20yrs on and Danny still holds the British 800m record.
