Mental Health Awareness Week: 9th May - 15th May 2022

For Mental Health Awareness Week the Mental Health Foundation have announced that Loneliness  will be this years theme. The week will explore the experience of loneliness, how it will effect our mental health and how we can all play a part in reducing loneliness within our communities.

5 ways to reduce loneliness:

1. Join a class/club – Whether its a sports club, exercise class or book club, this is a great way for you to make friends/catch up with friends on a regular basis.

2. Talk to someone new – While on a walk through the park, or you’re in your local coffee shop grabbing a drink, strike up a conversation with someone new.

3. Check in on your neighbours – Pop round to your neighbours, offer them a cuppa and a catch up!

4. Reach out to old friends – Drop a message online to some of your old school friends that you haven’t spoken to since leaving school, reach out to your friends who you haven’t seen in a few months and plan a coffee date!

5. Keep busy – Most importantly, keep busy! Go for a walk, go to the cinema, go on holiday or take a day trip with family and friends!

With Mental Health Awareness Week quickly approaching, this topic is more important in the workplace now more than ever. Learning to deal/learn about mental health within the workplace and how you can handle it, increases ability to perform, deal with pressure and be happy in your line of work.
