Nicole’s long-term ambition is clear-cut - to become the world’s most successful women’s cyclist of all time! Her ambition is clearly underway….A fantastic start to the 2006 season for our young welsh cyclist. She won Bronze at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games riding alone for Wales against teams of up to 6 riders from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and England. Since returning to the European racing Nicole scored her 3rd consecutive win in the famous Fleche Wallone World Cup in Belgium and has taken the lead in the Overall World Cup Series after 5 of the 12 rounds. Nicole is intelligent and articulate with great self-belief, but also a real understanding of
team-work goal setting and motivation. Nicole has the natural ability to speak to any audience, with her experience ranging from school assemblies, after dinner and key note speeches to addressing the Welsh Assembly Government at their Sports and Leisure Conference in 2004.
Her ambition is clearly underway……Nicole has had an amazing start to the 2005 season. She has already won 6 out of her 9 International races, including the Fleche Wallone World Cup in April and her 5th consecutive British Road Race Championships in June.
Nicole will be in action at the end of July in the European MTB Championships in France.
Currently Nicole is Britain’s top female cyclist. During her very first Olympic Games in Athens 2004 she finished a superb 5th in the Road Race and 19th in the Time Trial.
Record breaking is fast becoming a way of life for Nicole when in July 2004 Nicole she became the youngest winner of the Giro D’Italia the female equivalent of the Tour de France. Not only is Nicole the youngest winner of this event she recorded the fastest time ever and this at her very first attempt!
Her stunning achievements have resulted in Nicole becoming “BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year” in a public vote. The youngest and also only, the 3rd woman in the 49 year history of the award.
Nicole spends 8 months of the year in Italy, at the hub of women’s cycling and has adapted easily to continental life, learning the language and relishing life with her multi-national team mates.
Nicole is intelligent and articulate with great self-belief, but also a real understanding of team-work, goal setting and motivation.
