biography

Jackson Williams is an accomplished ultra marathon athlete who, at the age of 28, has begun to achieve ultra marathon credentials. Jackson began with his biggest adventure to date when running across the United States of America from Huntington Beach in California, to Central Park in New York. The run covered just over 3,000 miles, through some of the toughest terrains in the world, and in the American summer heat.

Jackson was also a trained lightweight boxer, he started at the age of nine; turned professional at twenty, earning twelve contest wins with his last professional fight against Olympic Silver medal winner Amir Khan. When Jackson was seventeen and studying sports therapy at City College Norwich, he decided to test himself with a running experience from London to Norwich over a three day period. This was the beginning of a four part series of challenge’s which were completed in preparation for the run across America.

He has successfully run for 24 hours on a treadmill, covering over 100 miles in that period. This was in preparation for another summer challenge when he ran the length of Scotland, starting at John O’Groats before cycling across England to finish at Lands End.

In March 2009, Jackson completed a 48 hour cycle/run challenge for Comic Relief, cycling from his beloved home town of Norwich, to Tower Bridge in London with a team of 7 other participants. He then ran the 115 miles back to Norwich in 24 hours, finishing at Norwich City Hall on his own.

In July 2009 he then went on to complete 26 treadmill marathons in 26 days, which started and finished in Harrods, London, raising money for UNICEF.

His latest challenge in March 2010 for Sport Relief involved running from Norwich to London covering over 100 miles, only this time barefoot in preparation for running across Australia in summer 2011.

Jackson’s ambition is to cover as many countries as possible on foot and to take part and complete 24 of the most extreme races over the coming years.

Jackson was recently voted onto the final shortlist for the most prestigious Heroes of Running award by Runner’s World.
