biography

Daniel started running for Royal Sutton Coldfield Athletic Club when he was 9 years old and although naturally gifted was very small, and between the ages of 12 and 15 did not win a single race!! After finally growing, Daniel started to realise his potential and rise through the National rankings, competing for Britain as a junior, becoming a British record holder in the 4 x 400m.

He qualified to run in the Sydney Olympic Games in the 400m finishing 8th overall and placing 4th in the 4x400m relay. The experience he gained over there helped to catapult him to his greatest success when he took the 400m World Indoor Championship title in Portugal in 2001.

The following few seasons reaffirmed Daniel’s world class status as he won the World Indoor Silver medal at the 400m and a Bronze medal as a part of the relay team in the 4 x 400m.  He also added the 4 x 400m Commonwealth Games and European Championship gold medals to his collection, and a European Championship Bronze medal in the 400m. Daniels personal best times over the 400m are 44.98s and indoors his best time was 45.43s, which saw him in the top 15 on the World All Time Rankings.
