Clare is a former England cricket captain. At the age of 30, she was awarded the OBE after leading England to their first Ashes win in 42 years.
Clare retired from playing for England in 2006 having played 16 Tests and 93 one-day internationals and having led the side for 6 years. Clare is currently Head of England Women’s Cricket at the England & Wales Cricket Board, driving this monumentally successful period for the women’s game. In April this year, Clare was appointed to the International Cricket Council’s Cricket Committee as its first female member and in August this year Clare was awarded Honorary Life Membership to the MCC.
Clare has enjoyed a dynamic career outside cricket. She has worked extensively in the cricket media, presenting for Channel 4 Cricket, summarising on Test Match Special and writing a column in The Observer. For seven years, Clare combined the many challenges of teaching English at Brighton College, heading up their PR and Marketing operations and running a girls’ day house.
As a result of her many experiences, Clare enjoys a diverse range of public speaking opportunities to audiences from the worlds of education, sport, leadership and politics.
