While his nickname “the Cat” indicates his goalkeeping background Bob is a top corporate comedian and after dinner speaker tailoring his acts to the characters in the audience. Described by Variety magazine as “One of Britain’s funniest after dinner comedians”, he has made countless TV and radio appearances and there aren’t many people in the business he hasn’t worked with.

Apart from his act Bob is also an excellent Master of Ceremonies and, with his journalism and public relations background, makes an excellent facilitator.

He has made countless TV and radio appearances. He followed Danny Baker as presenter of BBC Radio 5’s Six-O-Six Show. Last year saw him appear as a stand-up comic in the BBC 1 Variety Show “Jim Davidson Presents” and “Aunties Bloomers” with Terry Wogan for the fourth time.

There aren’t many people in the business he hasn’t worked with.

Recently he was asked to appear in “Ronnie and Friends” at the Fairfield Halls with Ronnie Corbett, Jasper Carrott, Jimmy Tarbuck and Bruce Forsyth. The list also includes The Bee Gees, Elkie Brooks, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Billy Connolly, David Essex, George Harrison, Bob Hoskins, Barry Humphries, Elton John, Elaine Paige and Rod Stewart.

In April 2001 he appeared in front of 5,000 people at the Royal Albert Hall at a Tribute Bands Concert.

He stars in the “Great Goalkeepers Show” with Gordon Banks and Pat Jennings and has also made an LP on football humour, which has frequently been featured on British Airways comedy channel.

Bob’s act travels well. He has appeared in Australia and the USA on a number of occasions as well as Hong Kong, Kenya and South Africa. On the corporate front he has worked for B&Q in Cannes, British Leyland in Rome, The English Tourist Board in Toronto, Ford in Cyprus and Munich, Golden Wonder in Bermuda London Weekend Television in Monte Carlo and Peugeot in Cyprus and Monte Carlo.

Bob had a highly successful business career in journalism and public relations. He is still a Member of the Institute of Public Relations and the National Union of Journalists. He was a reporter on Lloyd’s List, the daily shipping newspaper, and deputy editor of a travel trade magazine. He was Group Director of Public Relations for European Ferries for 14 years and has twice run his own PR consultancy with some success.

He made his first speech at his old boys dinner in 1966 turned professional in 1980 and has not looked back since!
