Bear joins only thirty British climbers to have successfully completed climbing Everest and return alive. On the way down from his first reconnaissance climb, Bear cheated death navigating the perilous Khumbu Icefall, the ice cracked and he fell into a crevasse that was 1,000 feet deep, was knocked unconscious and had it not been for the tenacity of his team-mates he would not be alive today. In August 2003, Bear led the first crew to cross the Atlantic via the Arctic Circle in an open rigid inflatable boat, in aid of The Prince’s Trust. Two years before he climbed Everest he suffered a near fatal parachuting accident in Africa. He broke his back in three places and narrowly escaped being paralysed for life. Despite moments of great pain and despair, Bear worked hard to regain full mobility and together with a team of friends he planned his expedition. With characteristic determination and charm he raised the enormous sponsorship needed and began training for the daunting challenge. As one of the youngest motivational speakers on the international business circuit, Bear has won over even the toughest of audiences and has a list of extremely impressive references to his credit.
Bear is a man who has always loved adventure. After breaking his back in three places in a parachuting accident, he fought his way to recovery, and two years later entered the Guinness Book of Records as the youngest Briton to climb Mount Everest, aged only 23. He has since led ground-breaking expeditions across the world.
But for Bear, it is not just about pushing his limits. It’s about overcoming challenges, and living your dreams. This belief, and Bear’s gift for communication, have led him to become a world class motivational speaker, author and tv host.
Bear’s passion and enthusiasm for the outdoors are now shared and enjoyed through his TV programmes in over 150 different countries, reaching over one billion people worldwide.
By combining his adventures with media work, Bear realised that he could also support and raise money for those causes closest to his heart. These have included charities that encourage young people to overcome some of life’s biggest challenges, many different children’s organisations, as well as the Armed Forces’ charity SSAFA Forces Help, reflecting his own military service with the UK Special Forces, as part of 21 SAS

Bear has also recenlty been appointed as the Uk’s youngest ever Chief Scout where his aim is to encourage more adults to become leaders.
